DIY SCANDINAVIAN STYLE CHRISTMAS WREATH WITH TWINKLE LIGHTS

DIY SCANDINAVIAN STYLE CHRISTMAS WREATH WITH TWINKLE LIGHTS

Hey friends! Today I am sharing a project that is one of those projects that just excites me right to my core. The Christmas season is hands down my favorite holiday time of year, so decorating my house is something that I cherish. I had a creative vision for a wreath that would include all of my favorite things, gold, fairy lights, and wire bending (I’m becoming addicted!). It turned out exactly as I had hoped and honestly, it was EASY! Here’s how you can make your own:

Materials: all materials are from Afloral.com
GOLD METAL FLORAL HOOP
RUSTIC BARK COVERED WIRE
ARTIFICIAL LONG NEEDLE PINE
VELVET POINSETTIA
SILK CABBAGE ROSE
FLORAL WIRE
MINI LED LIGHTS

Start with a floral or wreath hoop. The gold color of this one is stunning against the greens and florals.

Create a template for the word that you want to be inside the wreath. Try to find a font that is similar to handwriting or cursive.

Choose a wire that is easily bendable. This rustic bark covered wire adds the perfect contrast. Leaving about 6 inches on the end, tape down the wire and begin to bend it along the word template. Tape down each section as you go so that it doesn’t move around.

Add little loops as a flourish to your wire when you can, for example at the bottom of the letter “M” before bringing it back up to the top, and at the bottom of the letter “Y.” Once you’ve finished, remove all the tape. You can tweak the word as you go along with the rest of the project if the wire looks a little out of shape.

Center the word inside of your hoop, and then wrap the ends of the wire around the hoop a few times. Use wire cutters to cut off the excess.

Choose greens and florals that complement each other well. Line them up on your hoop before securing them so that you can get an idea of how they will look when you are finished. Secure them with floral wire in multiple spots to make sure that they won’t move around. Use each piece to hide the wire from the previous item that you added.

As an optional last step, you can wrap mini fairy lights around the word. Wrap the lights around each letter and then secure on the side of the hoop by wrapping it around a few times.

You can also make the wreath without the word if you prefer. This wreath is so elegant and festive and can really be customized to your style!
